Festung Ehrenbreitstein

This post is long overdue, as are some other posts that will hopefully be coming shortly.

About a month ago, we met up with some friends in Niederwerth, which is an island in the middle of the Rhein River, just outside of Koblenz.  I know Laura and her family from Houston.  They moved out here just over a year ago to go to graduate school.  It has been a lot of fun getting to know them better and having friends from home nearby.

After lunch at their house, they took us to Festung Ehrenbreitstein, which is the second largest fortress in Europe…and boy was it large!

I forgot to bring my camera, but luckily Ethan brought his.  All of these pictures, except the ones he’s in, were taken by Ethan.  He’s turning out to be a great photographer!

This picture of Ethan and Tybee is one of my favorite pictures!  They are the cutest kids and she just adores him.  On a side note…Tybee’s been sick the last couple of days and the only time she will smile or laugh is when Ethan walks into the room and starts talking to her.

This is looking down from the fortress at where the two main rivers converge, the Rhein and ? (I wish I could remember the name of the other river)

This is Laura’s little girl, Ella.  She so much wanted to be in our family picture.  We would gladly adopt her, she’s adorable.

I’m not sure why he likes the “peace” sign so much, but he does.

Doesn’t every good trip end with a playground? Smile
